Best wordpress backup plugin freely available

The best wordpress backup plugin freely available that I have found, after a long search I might add, would be the one from backup-technology.com, due to the ease of use, backup options available and outstanding support.

Given that this is a free wordpress backup plugin, you would be forgiven for thinking that the customer support would be less than top notch, and that the options would be either very limited or completely unfathomable.

Indeed with many wordpress backup plugin’s I have tried (and I have tried most of the top listed plugin’s at the time of writing this!) the options were extremely limited and very difficult to understand. Whilst it is true that I do enjoy playing with a bit of code from time to time, I have to be honest and state that I don’t really know what I am doing most of the time!

And so it was with relief that I managed to stumble upon this plugin after searching through Google, and got it installed and up and running quite quickly. My first manual backup with download to pc went like clockwork, and I was quite impressed with the plugin. But then I attempted my first manual online backup.

This was when I ran into my first problem using the backup plugin. Luckily for me, I was pretty sure what the problem was. In fact the plugin gave me a clue with the way it stated the error I was having. From memory the error was stated along the lines of:

“ERROR: YOUR WORDPRESS BLOG URL APPEARS TO BE INCORRECT – PLEASE CHECK”

I was fairly certain that the cause of this was the way that my webhost (123-reg) added wordpress blogs into directories other than the root on your domain. I don’t know the technical term for this, and I guess this doesn’t really matter anyway, but I felt that the cause of this was that 123-reg had put my wordpress blog into http://www.yearn2earncash.com:/blog rather than http://www.yearn2earncash.com/blog from their 123-reg apps into my domain.

I required some help with this and made a post into the forum for the plugin which you can read here (scroll down near the bottom of the posts), and was delighted to get such a quick response with a promise of a fix in the next update (There was also an acknowledgement that my problem might have been due to the above rather poorly explained issue with 123-reg)

Sure enough a fix was made in the next update. This was the truly surprising bit. The next update was finished much quicker than I expected. Considering that this particular wordpress backup plugin is free I would never have though that they would be so prompt at looking into an issue and getting it resolved.

I installed the new update, and now when I try the online backup it works perfectly. Absolutely everything I want is backed up now – database, files everything. All the techie stuff that I still don’t even really understand is all backed up into an encrypted backup on their servers.

And you can select from several different levels of encryption for your own wordpress backup. Once that is done, its time to select the schedule for your backups, whether you want the backup to be online or emailed to you, and exactly what files are to be backed up. They will even compress the backup for you to keep the overall size down a bit!

In my humble opinion this is the best wordpress backup plugin freely available. And when I say “freely available” I do mean free, because although you have to pay if your backup is more than 100mb (The free space you get on their servers is limited to this amount) you can happily use it if your backup is less than that.

There is a little tip there for anyone that is trying to keep the size of their wordpress backups down. As I upload all images and videos to my domain via FTP, rather than by using the wordpress media insertion features, the size of my backup remains as small as possible.

And as I always have a full backup of my entire website on two computers (so that should the worst happen with my webhost, I have everything ready) I know that I can quickly upload everything again, and after reinstalling my wordpress blog using this plugin, comfortably know that no one will ever know there has been a disaster!

I realise that it requires a little more effort to create a blog post my manually inserting the videos and images into them that you want, rather than simply clicking on the add media button, but it can save you some money if you can avoid going above the 100mb limit.

Anyway try out the plugin from backup-technology.com and let me know what you think of it in the comments below, I think you will agree with me that this is the best wordpress backup plugin freely available.

How To Find “Do Follow Blogs” – Free Trial Software That Lets You Create A List Of Do Follow Blogs

If you have been searching Google and elsewhere for a list of do follow blogs, you will no doubt have come across many sites that offer lists of blogs with dofollow backlinks allowed from the comments you leave on them, but yet when you actually visit these blogs it turns out that the blog in question is no longer a do follow blog.

Either the information was wrong in the first place, or the blogger has grown tired of the (inevitable) torrent of spammers that have visited his previously do follow blog, and has since decided to change it to a “No Follow blog” (For those still not sure, there really is no such thing as a do follow blog, it is simply the absence of the “No Follow tag” on comments that makes a blog into a dofollow blog!)

Anyway, nice lesson on dofollow blogs and the structure of the tags on comments and what affect this has on them, but how does any of this help you to find dofollow blogs?

What you need is software that shows you how to find dofollow blogs. Software that can go out there and actually check for blogs on your chosen topic, and then check to see if the returned list of blogs is actually dofollow or not. (Only checks you do at the time you want to comment can be certain to return accurate and up to date lists of do follow blogs)

That is where Fast Blog Finder comes in. This is an excellent piece of software that does exactly what it says on the tin (to borrow from the excellent Ronseal ad!). It looks for do follow blogs by searching on the topics (keywords) you type in, and then it will list dofollow blogs for you.

The list of dofollow blogs it returns can then be exported into various file formats for later visiting and commenting, or you can visit and comment right from within the application (I personally prefer to export into CSV file format, and visit each site later in my own browser – but its nice to have the choice, isn’t it!?)

The software actually returns more than a standard yes or no to the “do follow” question. For example there are some blogs which only become “do follow blogs” once a visitor has left the appropriate number of comments (this is a technique that a blogger will sometimes apply to their blog, so that a commenter has to leave several good comments, and not spam, on the blog to be rewarded with a “do follow backlink” in return).

The full list of blogs returned with Fast Blog Finder can be categorised into one of the following:
All, Custom, DoFollow, HTTP Error, Mixed, Unknown and NoFollow.

“HTTP Error” and “Unknown” are obviously due to problems with either the connection to the site or issues that the site itself is having, and so the software cannot return information on this blog, so lets ignore those and move on.

“NoFollow”, as the name suggests (and as explained earlier) are the blogs that you would not gain any search engine credit from, and so it’s unlikely you want to visit these blogs for this purpose. Again let’s ignore those and move on.

The two blog types you are interested in will be “DoFollow” and “Mixed”. These will be blogs that are either do follow blogs, or blogs that become do follow after you have entered the appropriate number of accepted comments (this can be anywhere from 5 up to as high as 50!)

You then use the software to further refine your dofollow blogs list so that you can choose exactly the blog types you want to comment on. For example you might want to comment only on those blogs with a high page rank, or on blogs that have been recently updated, or even on those particular blogs that have a low number of outbound links (All can be selected within the software!)

Already you can see that the Fast Blog Finder software will be extremely beneficial to you in order to get “do follow backlinks” to your own website or blog. But what hasn’t been explained yet is that the new version of the software returns much more than just blogs, and will now be useful to you in searching for dofollow websites as well!

I’m sure that I have given you an excellent resource here, and helped to answer the question of how to find do follow blogs, but the next area we need to cover is in Blog etiquette. Namely, how to leave blog comments that are useful to other visitors, and that add something to the conversation already in commencement, and that hasn’t been covered already in the other comments.

In other words you shouldn’t be spamming the blog just to get a SEO credit, you should simply be commenting normally, as you would on any other blog, whilst at the same time enjoying the added benefits of the blogs “Do Follow” status.

No blogger will want you spamming their blog site with useless comments, and so you should treat them with the respect that you would want them to show you, if the roles were reversed.

QUICK TIPS

As mentioned above if you want to leave do follow blog comments on a blog or website you find using the software just comment normally. One tip would be search for topics/keywords you are actually interested in, as this will help you to compose your blog better.

Your chances of having your dofollow blog comment accepted and published will be greatly increased if your comment does not appear to be self serving in any way (Remember, if you must put links in a comment, they should be to authority sites, and that you do not own. Its best not to put links in comments as most bloggers have their blogging software setup to put comments with links in them on hold, or trash them altogether!)

Even if you can find do follow blogs with this software, that does not mean that the blogger wants to be spammed with useless comments (trust me, they don’t!) and it is likely that they will quickly change the status of their blog back to “No Follow” if they get too many people just trying to leave dofollow blog comments for the SEO benefit (Its possible they will do so and the result might be that they remove the dofollow from comments that were published long ago!)

Browser Favourites List Backup Including Icons For Bookmarks/Icons For Favorites

If you are anything like me, you probably have lots of sites that are bookmarked or added to your favourites list in Internet Explorer (or even Firefox, Chrome or Safari, or whatever it is you use as your default web browser. I do use all of the first three actually, but 90% of the time I just stick with Internet Explorer as every old website out there is guaranteed to be compatible with it – plus I am less used to the other browsers and old habits die hard!)

As time goes by you are no doubt adding to all of your favourite websites into the favourites list in your browser on a daily basis, to make visiting your favourites sites much quicker. This means that your bookmarks list is getting bigger and bigger all the time.

But is it really there forever? Now I’m not suggesting for a moment that a site you add to your internet bookmarks lists will ever vanish from your browser on its own. Nor am I suggesting that you might ever delete it by a clumsy mistake on your part (none of my readers are clumsy, now are you!?)

I am actually suggesting something far worse and problematic could happen to your computer altogether. Either a virus or some other unknown fault that occurs and leaves you unable to even start your computer, or something that leaves your pc basically functioning, but not well enough to make a backup of your internet favourites.

If you do find yourself in this situation, you might well have to reinstall your operating system. And if you do have to reinstall your operating system, one of the worse things about it is having to add all your bookmarked sites back into your browser of choice. Which is why it would be wise to back up your favourite website list now, before that ever happens.

(If it has already happened, don’t worry, just read on as I have something that might help a little for you lower down this post)

The process of backing up your favourite website list is called “exporting”, and is something you really need to get done every once in a while. Just how often you need to do it depends on how often you update your favourites list.

If you don’t do it often enough you will find that you have a list that is full of old sites you no longer wish to visit, and any new ones you recently bookmarked would not even be in the list at all, which would rather make for a useless backup, I think you would agree.

Well fear not!

Introducing the “Nearly Ultimate Favourite Websites List Backup”, which as the name suggests is a list of bookmarked websites/favourite websites (whichever name you prefer to use) that almost anyone would find useful, especially those seeking to make money online, as it includes all of the websites that you really should be visiting.

(The reason it’s called the “Nearly Ultimate Favourite Websites List Backup” rather than the “Ultimate Favourite Websites List Backup” is simply because there will always be a load of great websites out there I have yet to add to it, and so it will always be a “nearly” list!)

The list is primarily aimed at those in the UK as that is where I am based, but really anyone can use it, as most of the websites in the list will simply redirect to your own local site whenever you try and visit one that is outside your own country. Most websites are clever enough to know if you are visiting a version of their site that is located in a different country to the one you are currently browsing from and will offer you one click access to your own country version whenever possible.

All you need to do is download the zipped file, extract the file, and then in your browser of choice click on “Import favourites from file” (or whatever text they use for this term) and direct your browser to import your favourites from the file you just unzipped.

After you have done this you will see that you have a favourites list that includes most of the most popular and useful websites out there – especially if you want a list of websites that’s useful for making money!

Naturally after checking your favourites list you will see some useful websites that I have missed, so please leave a comment below if you see that I really should have included a useful website into the list and I will make sure to get that done and upload a new version of the file with your recommended website in it.

The truly great thing about this list is that it already contains the individual websites own icons for bookmarks (Known as Favicons in the trade!) as the little graphic for the shortcut to the sites. It is actually quite difficult to create these “icons for favorites”.

Normally the way that browsers save these little graphics would require you to visit each website so that they can then save the Favicons. This website favourite list backup actually contains the link to the Favicon on each site, so the icon is there in your bookmarks immediately!

The way I did it was to actually search for the Favicon of every site in the list. It took ages I can tell you. Luckily most of the time the Favicons are only in the root of the domain. For example something this:

http://www.yearn2earncash.com/favicon.ico

Though sometimes the icons were also placed somewhere else, like in an images folder. For example something this:

http://sampleresources.com/images/favicon.ico

Then there were also a few really difficult to find Favicons out there were the icon was in a location you would never, ever dream of. Just take a look at this location of the Favicon from the digg.com website:

http://cdn1.diggstatic.com/img/favicon.ico

Anyway I have done all the hard work for you in creating you a list of website favourites with icons included, so all you need to do is try it out and let me know what you think needs adding to it and I will be sure to get on with it!

Download the “Nearly Ultimate Favourite Websites List Backup” file here now and let me know which websites you would have expected to be included in your comments below.

It will work for most of the popular browsers (with a little tweaking as explained below!) and will no doubt save you a ton of time setting up your browser the way you like it again.

You can of course drag and drop the favourites/bookmarks into the order you like them (or remove some entirely, if you like!) but be careful if you edit the code as you don’t want to risk removing the icons that I struggled so valiantly to find for you.

(Quick tip for chrome users – You cannot import all your old favourites directly into chrome, you have to go through another browser like Internet Explorer first. In other words import the favourites list into Internet explorer first, then immediately after you will need to open up chrome and import them from Internet explorer to Chrome. To do that click on the wrench icon to access your “Options”, after this click on “Personal stuff”, then alongside “Browsing data” click on “Import data from another browser” and then make sure that “Microsoft Internet Explorer” is selected and tick the radio button next to “Favorites/Bookmarks” to import the favourite website list from there.)

Website sharing buttons – which, and how to use?

You will no doubt have noticed whilst browsing the internet that many sites have website sharing buttons on them for all of the most popular social media and social bookmarking websites.

These buttons are most evident on video sharing websites, but really any website or blog should employ these sharing buttons on them as they are a really good way of allowing more people to find out about the content on the site.

Again, as with my last post about having a button or text link to encourage users to add your site to their favourites list, urging people to share your content by having such website sharing buttons on your page is the best way to guarantee most will do so.

Although many people will be able to share your site without the buttons being available directly on the webpage, we must not forget that there are still lots of others that are not used to using sharing services online, and these people will need all the help they can get to share any useful information they find.

That is why you should not only offer them a full list of sharing buttons for all of the most popular social media and social bookmarking websites out there, but you should also state why these sharing buttons are even on your webpage to start with!

A line like “Let the whole world know what you have found” just above the set of sharing buttons will make them feel like they are really helping others with what they are about to do – which is spread word about your site.

The internet seems to be moving away from actual links from websites being the most important ranking factor in the search engine results, towards mentions from users own social media and social bookmarking accounts being of most importance (although of course you should never stop trying to get more links to your website!)

Some people might not even have used the sharing buttons available from there own social media and social bookmarking services before – indeed they might have only just registered for an account with that service.

For that reason it might well be worth going into even more detail alongside the sharing buttons list on your website letting them know the process of what they must do to post their sharing message. (Even if that is something as simple as saying “Login and hit post!”)

I have not yet split tested with my chosen sharing service (mentioned below) whether or not I get more shares from the pages with extra help on them, it is just my opinion that extra help for users is probably not a bad thing.

There are several services out there that provide you with a simple bit of customizable code that you can place on your website or blog to create website sharing buttons your visitors can use.

I am currently using the button code provided by http://sharethis.com/ as this service provided me with all of the buttons I wanted for my chosen list of social media and social bookmarking services in the way that I liked them, although there are two other very popular services I would like to mention below.

http://www.addthis.com/

www.addtoany.com/ (Now goes straight to http://share.lockerz.com)

You should be able to use any of these website sharing services quite easily as the process of creating buttons is as simple as sign up for free and select sharing services and buttons style, then copy and paste code into website or blog.

Let me know how you get on!

Add to Favourites button – A simple trick to get more people to bookmark your website

When someone adds your website to their favourite list (Also known as bookmarking it) they are able to find it easily whenever they want to again in the future.

This is great for you because it gives you another chance of getting a visit from them, and it is also good for them because it gives them another chance to see more of your content in future, which they might otherwise miss out on.

Hopefully they will add your website to their favourites list and visit it again on a regular basis, but there is a very good chance that they will not think about it, and once they have left your website they might not be able to find it again even if they want too!

(Remember not everyone is as good at going through their own recent search history to find a previously visited website as you might be!)

So in an ideal world we should not only be asking them to bookmark our website (add to favourites list) but we should also be helping them to do it if they find it difficult to do so themselves.

When I first started using Google Chrome browser I could never remember how to add a website to my favourites list, and I imagine many others had the same experience, judging by the number of people asking “how to bookmark a website with Google chrome” that I found on various websites.

With a bit of code placed onto our websites we can easily create an “Add to Favourites button” that they can then use to bookmark our pages with a simple two click approach.

In the box below you will find the “Add to Bookmarks JavaScript Code” from the Hostingfanatic.com website that I slightly adapted for my own needs (adapted as in changed colour and text size that’s all)

When first they click on it the “Add to favourites” box pops up and then they simply have to click again to either confirm or cancel the “Add to favourites operation.

Now some people would say that it’s completely unnecessary to have such a request on your pages, and that someone would add your website to their favourites list quite easily on their own if they really wanted to.

However, I don’t see any harm in nudging people to do it just a bit, plus as I have already stated above, not everyone knows how or even thinks to do it until it’s too late and they have already lost your website, and by then it’s too late.

The code above really only works for Internet explorer and Firefox – it might work in other browsers, but most likely it will just do nothing, as is the case with Google chrome.

With Google chrome when a person clicks on the link it appears completely useless, and so simply stating that they should click on the control key and the letter d (as in CTRL+D) is the best way so far to get them to bookmark you easily.

Actually the CTRL+D method works in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome, and it is my belief that this easy method would also work in many other browsers too – but I haven’t tried that yet.

It might just be worth me saying “other browser users simply hit “CTRL+D” rather than my current “Chrome users simply hit “CTRL+D”.

Let me know how the “Add to Favourites code” works for you and what you think.

Free three column website templates for SEO

Just a short blog post today regarding two different three column website templates you can try out for free on your own website.

Those who have visited my site recently will have noticed quite a change in my website design – my old website sucked frankly, and I was always aware of this!

So I decided to find some better layouts for the site, and started to check out various three column websites styles that would not only improve the look of the website but also be beneficial in terms of SEO.

I now describe both of my chosen three column website templates for you below.

I did not create either, but I am currently running both on the Yearn2earncash.com website, and I am very happy with the results.

The Perfect 3 Column Liquid Layout SEO friendly website template by Matthew James Taylor is the first one I really do recommend, and I am using it on most of my pages.

It puts your most important content (the middle column) first in the source code, giving the search engine robots exactly what they want quickly. This is very important for SEO.

Your side columns in which I place my links and adverts are then placed as left column second in the source code and right column third in the source code.

My only slight qualm with this template is that I found it harder to change the sizes of the two side columns, and unless you really know what you are doing (I usually don’t!) you might also struggle to do the same.

Changing the colours of the columns and other such things like changing the ways links behave was quite easy – as I said above the only trouble I encountered was altering the column sizes.

That was why I looked for a second Three Columns Layout template for those pages that needed a little extra tweaking, and I finally settled on Dynamic Drives CSS Liquid Layout #3.3- (Fluid-Fluid-Fluid) Three Columns Layouts which was the seventh one down in the list, as this was much easier to edit when needing to change column widths.

The only drawback with this second three column template was that it was so basic – as I wanted it to match the other pages on my site generated through the first three column template, I had to manually add all the coding changes to it that the first one offered.

As I said above adding and altering code has never been my strong point, and that will be unlikely to change any time soon!

Now which one is best? That’s a question everyone wants answering – but I cannot give a straight easy answer here.

I love the first three column template for the style it gives, yet I love the second three column template for the ease of editing provided.

If you are anything like me then perhaps you might want to stick to the easy second three column template, but if you feel that you can handle the extra effort of editing a bit more code then go ahead and check out Matthews three column template.

(It is too soon yet to state which would be better for SEO, but I do have a sneaky suspicion that Matthew’s template has a little more going for it!)

Recovering Deleted Youtube Videos If Your YouTube Account Has Been Terminated

If you are not very careful with the way you use your YouTube account, you might well see a message such as the following:

“YEARN2EARNCASHDOTCOM has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of our Community Guidelines”

Lets be clear, there are many traps to fall into that might result in you losing your YouTube account, which range from simply using too many tags in your YouTube videos descriptions, to posting too many messages in such a way as it might be considered spam, to using your YouTube account to conduct your business (yes, you have to be careful with that one too!)

And in one of my biggest mistakes (no, the biggest mistake! More on that below) to date I have fallen into one of those traps from which there is absolutely no escape.

When I say there is absolutely no escape, I really do mean it. Despite what you may read online (and it’s worth trying a few things) once your YouTube account has been terminated, there is pretty much nothing more you can do to recover deleted YouTube videos.

(So you should always save a copy of any video you upload to any online video hosting service, to your own hard drive, or better still to a free online file hosting service, that way should the unthinkable happen you still have a copy of the file to re-upload to a new account elsewhere)

Of course even if you did have a copy of your video to upload again to new accounts online (YouTube may say you cant have another account – but you can with a new email address, so just do it!) you would still have to do all the work of building up a new list of friends, subscribers and traffic – video views etc.

A brief mention on the subject of finding deleted YouTube videos. I said there is nothing you can do to recover removed YouTube videos – technically there is a slight hope that you can find removed YouTube videos, but I really would not hold out much hope on that.

Believe me, I have tried everything I can think of to download removed YouTube videos from other locations online, but as there are very few of my videos being hosted on services other than YouTube, the chances are slim (which is another great reason to use multiple online video hosting sites so that the loss of any one is not disastrous).

However there are a couple of services online that I found that might just help you to download deleted YouTube videos. Please take my suggestions with a pinch of salt though, as my tests with the two services mentioned were very poor!

For that reason, and also for the fact that some of the sites really do look a bit dodgy (you will see what I mean if you actually do visit some of them!) I have decided not to provide clickable links to them.

Instead I will only provided the name of the sites and let you search for them yourself. Another word of caution at this point though, I really do not recommend any of these services, as frankly they seem pretty abysmal at finding what I am looking for.

(I’m guessing these services only really work well when you are trying to watch videos removed from YouTube and the actual account still exists and has not been closed by the user or terminated by YouTube)

Below are the “best” two that I found that you can try if you like:

deletedyoutube.ftvteen DOT com (Some chance, but you have to take a survey to even access the service)

kissyoutube DOT com (does not seem to be able to do what it promises, so not much chance of recovering deleted YouTube videos with it, but does allow for easy downloads of current YouTube videos)

Next lets move on to what I did to get my YouTube account terminated.

Well, it was nothing very serious, I can assure you!

But YouTube really hated what I did, so they kicked me out so fast it made my head spin.

I did add a few too many tags to some of my videos, which technically does go against the YouTube Community Guidelines.

You can read the following line on the YouTube Community Guidelines under don’t cross the line:

“Do not create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or thumbnails in order to increase views.”

But lets be honest everyone adds too many tags to their videos don’t they? You will see lots of videos with lots of tags, and also descriptions that are nothing more than tags, and they stay up forever without the accounts getting banned.

Besides which, all of my tags related to exactly the same thing. They were simply alternative words for the same meaning.

So that was not the reason my YouTube account got terminated. I contest that there was a far more petty reason for YouTube to give me the boot!

I also used many of my tags in the title and description box of my videos, but again as with the above explanation of YouTube life, I did not go too far, and my titles and descriptions only included words which were alternative meanings for other words used to adequately explain what the video was about.

There were also some incredibly minor breaches of the YouTube Terms of Service which almost certainly don’t count as everyone that uses YouTube breaks these rules!

Take a look at “5. General restrictions on use” and scroll down to:

H.you agree not to use or launch any automated system (including, without limitation, any robot, spider or offline reader) that accesses the Service in a manner that sends more request messages to the YouTube servers in a given period of time than a human can reasonably produce in the same period by using a publicly available, standard (i.e. not modified) web browser;

J.you agree not to use the Website or the Services (including the comments and email features in the Website) for the solicitation of business in the course of trade or in connection with a commercial enterprise;

K.you agree not to solicit, for commercial purposes, any users of the Website with respect to their Content;

“H” might just possibly (but I doubt it) have been breached by my use of the TubeToolbox application, that you can read more about on the TubeToolbox site, which is an incredibly popular way to manage a YouTube account. It is a program that you can download and install on your pc which has many great features within it that makes managing your account easy and quick, automating many of the most time consuming aspects of YouTube account management.

TubeToolbox state on their website that use of their service will not get your account banned, so I really don’t believe this was the cause of my YouTube account termination.

Take a look at the line from TubeToolbox’s own website below:

“Q. Can my YouTube account get suspended for using Tube Toolbox?

A. NO. We remain dedicated to staying within YouTube’s Terms of Service and “playing by the rules”

In fact, YouTube specifically addresses automated software (like Tube Toolbox) in section 4.G of their Terms of Use.”

So even though I used TubeToolbox to manage my own YouTube account and I made and uploaded a video to YouTube explaining how to use a TubeToolbox account, this petty reason was not why I got terminated.

“J” and “K” above regarding the use of YouTube for commercial reasons does not even warrant a response in my mind, as there are masses of business that send messages through the YouTube system, and masses of business that use the YouTube service in other ways, including entrepreneurs.

No my reason for getting banned from YouTube was something far more petty than even this.

Do you know what it was?

I will tell you.

My crime was the “thumbnail” issue. Its not that I used misleading thumbnails, because I did not. I only created videos in such a way so that the thumbnail images presented by YouTube would be the ones I wanted.

I simply timed it so that the exact middle point of my finished video had the image in it I wanted, which is how YouTube creates a thumbnail image.

The thumbnail images were important to the video, and were actually an integral part of the video. The images that made up the final video, and by that token the YouTube thumbnail image, were the actual focus of the video.

Yes, they were of a very attractive girl, but did not feature pornographic images. My video could not be described as a porn video by any stretch of the imagination.

Indeed, although I have often been asked “how to make money from porn videos online” I would never even attempt to create any type of content of this nature, I would never attempt to upload such content anywhere online, and I would never attempt to make money from sex videos online.

I know that people do simply upload “sexy videos” with affiliate links to sex sites and dating sites within the actual video and placed in their descriptions, but I don’t do that as I am trying to run a serious business here.

The “Teenage girl won 2m Lottery jackpot – Callie Rogers” video, it was neither a “porn video” nor even a “sex video”, but simply featured a very attractive girl. Albeit a pretty girl in a state of undress in one of the images within the video.

But again, the image was nothing worse than you would see in a daytime TV advert for a woman’s shampoo or body wash. Callie Rogers was covered enough to maintain dignity, and the video should not have broken any of YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

It certainly would not have broken this guideline:

“YouTube is not for pornography or sexually explicit content.”

As I said above there certainly was not any nudity at all in the video, which you can verify by watching it yourself in the blog post entitled “Selecting your own custom thumbnail YouTube video image“.

But worse (in YouTube’s eyes!) than creating a video myself in such a manner that YouTube selected my chosen thumbnail image for me, I made a video explaining how to create your own YouTube videos in such a way that the thumbnail image that YouTube selects for you is the one that you really like.

You can quite deliberately create a video and have YouTube choose the exact image of your choice for its thumbnail image, and this is something which can quite dramatically increase your YouTube video views.

This is something that YouTube really hates, and that was the reason they terminated my YouTube account.

The thing that really gets to me is that a line such as:

“YEARN2EARNCASHDOTCOM has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of our Community Guidelines”

Really does make it look like you were scum of the earth, and a line like that can do real damage to your reputation.

It either makes you look like a spammer or a peddler of child sex videos.

“Multiple violations” – no, just the one actually!

“Severe violations” – well, I did give away a YouTube secret, but was it really severe?

So now I will have to start hosting my own videos that give away YouTube secrets so that there is nothing they can do about it!

The lesson for today?

Search Engine Optimization Tutorial Free PDF Ebook Guide

Almost every search engine optimization tutorial will claim that you can get a number one spot in the search engine listings for a search of any keyword phrase of your choice.

But of course, any seo tutorial that attempts to claim such a thing such be ignored, simply because it’s not possible to get a number one position for the most popular keyword phrases.

Before we continue in this discussion of search engine optimization, a quick word on my apparent blog posting quietness of late.

Now I had not intended to write this blog post today, as I have been extremely busy with some very pressing business regarding a number of very pressing issues lately, which I shall not mention in this post, but I simply had to do so when I managed to get hold of a copy of “Brad Callen’s Search Engine Optimization Made Easy” guide.

This wonderful search engine optimization ebook was what helped me get the Yearn2earncash.com website onto the first page of Google’s listings for many quite popular keyword phrases, and I am extremely happy to be able to provide it as a free download on my website.

Such is my joy at having access to this guide again (after losing my original copy) that I would like to offer it as a free download for the life of my website – it really is that good a search engine optimization ebook!

Okay then, back to the topic of search engine optimization, which is really what this post is all about.

We all know that we cannot simply target the most popular keywords that we would like to, that’s just not possible due to the competition out there. We would not stand a chance of having our content discovered by visitors if we only went for the very popular keyword phrases.

What we have to do is find those keyword phrases that are slightly less competitive to rank for, yet are still closely related to your chosen niche, and then rank highly for those.

Many search engine optimization tutorials will fail to mention this most rudimentary of points regarding search engine optimization – Not so “Brad Callen’s Search Engine Optimization Made Easy” guide, which really does show you exactly what you need to know to improve search engine rankings on your own website.

There are some simple steps that can be taken to ensure good website search engine optimization, as you will see if you visit the “More Info” page on my website, such as:

Using your keyword in every Meta Tag of your webpage

Using your keyword all over your page

Using your keyword as the name for images on your page

Using your keyword as “anchor text” in links to your page (The actual words that are hyperlinked)

But far better in your efforts to improve search engine rankings for your own webpage would be to simply download your own copy of “Brad Callen’s Search Engine Optimization Made Easy“, as this really is the best search engine optimization tutorial you can possibly find.

What makes this really good is that it’s also a free search engine optimization tutorial!

Selecting your own custom thumbnail YouTube video image

In a moment I want to cover the art of choosing your own YouTube image thumbnail for the videos you upload (and getting YouTube to automatically select the perfect YouTube thumbnail image is an art) but for now a word on the last blog post about making money on YouTube.

In my last blog post I wrote about making money on YouTube, and one of the things I mentioned you could try doing was the age old tactic of making “Hot girl” videos.

This is simply were you discuss a hot girl as the subject of your video, and make sure you use the keywords “Hot girl” as your tags and within your description.

It could also be that if you are an attractive female, and you simply discuss practically any subject (although relationship advice is the best subject to use for this) you are likely to build up huge numbers of views very fast indeed.

The simple truth is these types of videos get high view numbers very quickly all the time, and is one technique that is almost guaranteed to result in a good size audience from your YouTube account.

Obviously how you choose to monetize your videos from this point is what directly relates to how much money you will actually make from YouTube.

I myself have not really chosen to use YouTube and my videos on it as a way of making money directly; I have more used it as a traffic generation resource. However I have completed my first video as a test of the “Hot girl” tactic mentioned above.

Now technically I must point out that the Callie Rogers video I made does not fully comply with all of the rules for the “Hot girl” tactic to work. At least not as well as it should.

(Callie Rogers for those that dont know the story is the 16 year old girl that won £2million on the UK national lottery, but then spent almost all of it without having anything left to show for it)

You see, although the “Hot girl” keyword is mentioned within the tags and the description, I did not feel it really suitable to have it form part of the title of my video.

I did not really feel that it suited my type of account. Although as mentioned in my last blog post on this subject, it would be possible to create another YouTube account and upload it from there, I wanted to maintain my integrity and create a video that was in my nature from my own original YouTube account.

(I did however include the “Hot girl” tag in the title of my “making of” video which I have since deleted)

So although this video might not really match the criteria of this tactic fully, it should still result in some good views – especially because of one other tactic I employed whilst making it which is the subject of much concern amongst uploaders.

Just how do you choose the perfect YouTube video thumbnail picture?

I mean you do get three choices provided to you by YouTube, but what if they are not the best images to use as your YouTube video thumbnails picture?

This is a bit tricky to do, and requires a little planning, unless you are a member in the YouTube partner scheme of course, then you can upload any image for your video thumbnail YouTube picture, even one that is not featured within the video itself.

Introducing – How to create a video where the perfect YouTube thumbnail image is automatically chosen for you.

Essentially YouTube selects it choices for your videos thumbnail picture from three points within your video. One is definitely the half way point and the other two are towards the beginning and end of the video, it’s difficult to be exact.

Others online have mentioned that it is the quarter, halfway and three quarter points of a video, but my test results appear different than that.

Anyway, I have personally tested this on the halfway point with my original Callie Rogers video, and it does select the image I want perfectly from my video to use as the YouTube video image thumbnail.

So my best advice on this subject is to make your video more carefully so that you can insert a short film clip in exactly the place you want to guarantee that you get the image you want automatically selected by YouTube when you upload it.

Another option for making money on YouTube that I did not mention would be the “split video” which is again not something I use myself, but I have nothing against it really, I just don’t do it.

The “split video” would be one where you upload a certain type of film (yes, you know the type) and end the YouTube part before anything too extreme gets going.

You then have the other half with the more extreme type content (again, you know the type) available from a website, perhaps as a “paid for” download, or even one tied in to a CPA offer, where someone has to complete an action (such as filling in a survey and such like) to get to the other half of the content.

This technique does apparently work well with certain types of content, from what I have heard online, but I would not try it due to my account not really being the type that would associate with this type of content.

But it’s certainly an idea for you out there if you are happy to do down the “Hot girl” video route to its final destination.

Anyway, I will end this rather long, but hopefully educational blog post now, but I would just like to mention Callie Rogers, the subject of my own “Hot girl” video one more time.
