How to make money on YouTube

Making money with YouTube is possible, in fact it’s quite easy for many people to make money with YouTube, but it depends on what you are happy doing.

(You probably will not find some of the below tips anywhere else online!)

The simplest way to make money from YouTube would have to be uploading videos that get enough views so that YouTube invite you to enrol in their advertising program.

They just send you an email one day asking if you would like to have adverts displayed on your YouTube account. You make a commission each time someone clicks on any advert on your YouTube account. This is an offer they make to anyone with enough YouTube video views.

So obviously for this to work, you would have to be uploading videos that are the type likely to be searched for a lot. I think you can imagine what type of videos get lots of video views on YouTube. Yes, you know the ones.

(Something along the lines of “hot girl dancing” or some sort of “hot girl aerobics” type thing always gets enough views, without fail!)

Of course if you don’t upload this type of content, then there are other options for making money from YouTube.

One way you can make money with YouTube is to simply have an affiliate link to a product or service within the description of your video.
It might be wise if doing this to also have a shortened link (like bitly) actually displayed on the video itself, as the video could end up shown on a video sharing site without your description box being intact.

Obviously if that happened you would not get credited for any commissions that are generated for sales created as a result of someone watching your video and then buying the product or service.

Another way to make money on YouTube would be to make videos that are just your review of a product or service, or you could just discuss a subject in a video and then have an affiliate link to a matching product online.

(Perhaps you could discuss/review relationships and have affiliate links to dating websites and that sort of thing. Even Adultfriendfinder has an affiliate program! Or you could discuss/review betting sites and have affiliate links to them. That is a great way to make money from YouTube!)

I do get asked “how do you make money on YouTube” quite a lot actually, so I have prepared some more clever little tricks that might help to answer that question.

Another option is where you contact the uploaders of videos that are already getting massive amounts of views (and ideally are still currently getting lots of new views each day) and ask them to insert your own affiliate links into the description boxes of their videos in return for a payment.

Or you could make the offer more generous and offer to actually share with them a percentage of the commissions that are generated as a result of doing this. You would want to create special tracking links within Clickbank so that you would know which uploader had resulted in the sales that are generated from doing this, in order to pay them correctly each month.

Some of the people you contact might not trust you to pay them of course and so they may never reply. Other people may not even really use their YouTube accounts, and may have just uploaded one popular video one time, and never even return to their accounts to see your message.

They may even just take your idea of inserting affiliate links into their popular videos and run with it themselves by inserting their own affiliate links into their videos without ever asking for your affiliate links and payment.

That was another, rather more complex “How to earn money on YouTube” solutions. But whilst we are on this path, lets step things up a bit.

Another more extreme sounding option would be to purchase the YouTube accounts of those with popular videos on them. Again this would require some degree of trust, but you could pay them for the login details to their accounts and then change the password, thus preventing them from scamming you.

You would then own the account and be able to edit and change anything on it you like without them having the right to change it back (or even being able to)

Not everyone would consider or even like the idea of selling their YouTube accounts, but it could be useful as an income generating tool if you could own the YouTube accounts with popular videos on them.

Really the above option is how to get money from YouTube for only the really serious. It would probably be safest and easiest to start all of the different YouTube accounts yourself, rather than try to acquire already established YouTube accounts.

Which brings us on to our final option of having multiple YouTube accounts of your own in order to concentrate each individual YouTube account on a specific niche area of interest.

That way you can keep all of your “hot girl” videos separate from your other types of stuff. That’s actually some good advice I should consider following myself (I still only have the one YouTube account for all my stuff)

I must point out at this stage that although I know all of the above ideas would work, as I have heard of others trying them out before, I don’t actually employ most of them myself.

I am only using YouTube to advertise my website, and as a way to display information I discover online. Although it’s possible I have uploaded a video with an affiliate link in its description, I don’t actually remember doing so, and if I did do so it was not really my intention to make money this way.

There was a time when I contacted other uploaders to ask for their help with affiliate links, but I lost interest in this before it really got going, as other areas of my website became more important to me.

I believe that most of the income YouTube has created for me will have been created indirectly. By that I mean that someone might have seen one of my YouTube videos, then visited the Yearn2earncash.com site as a result of seeing the video, and whilst there clicked upon some advert which generated a commission for me.

If anyone else has some good ideas for making money using YouTube please let me know so that we can post them here for other to share.

You can also earn money by sharing links.
I know VaiA is one of the best ones.
And you earn much more than adf.ly etc.

http://www.vaia.dk

i think i read somewhere that there was more than 200.000 users
and the payout is very good. and easy to earn money with some small payout.

Anyway great post! :-)

Hi Siram.
Thanks for commenting with two interesting URL’s that I am sure people will want to use both in their YouTube video descriptions box, emblazoned across the video itself and around the internet in general.
Actually being able to generate a small income from your shortened URL’s is excellent – compared to the standard link shortening services that don’t pay you anything!
Let’s just hope that both services stick around long enough for people to really benefit from them and that the shortened URL’s really are permanent like with the more famous shortening services like Bitly.
Keep in touch with other ways that you make money online, people will like to hear them.

Paul Friar.

Great information. I would add if you can manage to get your videos embedded on other websites that will increase view traffic. On one channel I work on they are getting 52% of their total traffic from one super website that often puts up their videos.
Also ‘How to” videos seem to catch on pretty good. Also I did notice sites that simply get some kid’s and their own music and sing children’s songs and have views in the hundreds of thousands and more. I have no clue how they can sing these trademarked songs and still advertise since YouTube does not allow your own version of a protected song with Ad’s too. Maybe the copyright holder is the one befitting for the Ad’s I suppose.
Keep up the great work and good luck on your website.

Hi Ken.
You have some good information there yourself!
If you can get your videos embedded elsewhere then that is another great way of getting more video views (and of course traffic to a destination where you might earn a commission in the process) or simply letting people know about whatever it is that you can offer them.
Also you are right when you mention some of the really simple videos that have gotten many thousands of video views.
If someone creates a simple little video (perhaps whilst wearing a t shirt they designed with their own site logo on it?) that becomes popular then this can really become lucrative to them over time.
And we should never forget that there are many other video sharing sites out there to use in addition to Youtube (although Youtube will always be my preferred starting point due to huge numbers of viewers).
Thanks for your comment Ken, and let us know how you get on with your own videos in future, and if you make commissions from them and your other online pursuits, they would no doubt make interesting readers for others interested in this manner of making money online.
Regards,
Paul.
