Selecting your own custom thumbnail YouTube video image

In a moment I want to cover the art of choosing your own YouTube image thumbnail for the videos you upload (and getting YouTube to automatically select the perfect YouTube thumbnail image is an art) but for now a word on the last blog post about making money on YouTube.

In my last blog post I wrote about making money on YouTube, and one of the things I mentioned you could try doing was the age old tactic of making “Hot girl” videos.

This is simply were you discuss a hot girl as the subject of your video, and make sure you use the keywords “Hot girl” as your tags and within your description.

It could also be that if you are an attractive female, and you simply discuss practically any subject (although relationship advice is the best subject to use for this) you are likely to build up huge numbers of views very fast indeed.

The simple truth is these types of videos get high view numbers very quickly all the time, and is one technique that is almost guaranteed to result in a good size audience from your YouTube account.

Obviously how you choose to monetize your videos from this point is what directly relates to how much money you will actually make from YouTube.

I myself have not really chosen to use YouTube and my videos on it as a way of making money directly; I have more used it as a traffic generation resource. However I have completed my first video as a test of the “Hot girl” tactic mentioned above.

Now technically I must point out that the Callie Rogers video I made does not fully comply with all of the rules for the “Hot girl” tactic to work. At least not as well as it should.

(Callie Rogers for those that dont know the story is the 16 year old girl that won £2million on the UK national lottery, but then spent almost all of it without having anything left to show for it)

You see, although the “Hot girl” keyword is mentioned within the tags and the description, I did not feel it really suitable to have it form part of the title of my video.

I did not really feel that it suited my type of account. Although as mentioned in my last blog post on this subject, it would be possible to create another YouTube account and upload it from there, I wanted to maintain my integrity and create a video that was in my nature from my own original YouTube account.

(I did however include the “Hot girl” tag in the title of my “making of” video which I have since deleted)

So although this video might not really match the criteria of this tactic fully, it should still result in some good views – especially because of one other tactic I employed whilst making it which is the subject of much concern amongst uploaders.

Just how do you choose the perfect YouTube video thumbnail picture?

I mean you do get three choices provided to you by YouTube, but what if they are not the best images to use as your YouTube video thumbnails picture?

This is a bit tricky to do, and requires a little planning, unless you are a member in the YouTube partner scheme of course, then you can upload any image for your video thumbnail YouTube picture, even one that is not featured within the video itself.

Introducing – How to create a video where the perfect YouTube thumbnail image is automatically chosen for you.

Essentially YouTube selects it choices for your videos thumbnail picture from three points within your video. One is definitely the half way point and the other two are towards the beginning and end of the video, it’s difficult to be exact.

Others online have mentioned that it is the quarter, halfway and three quarter points of a video, but my test results appear different than that.

Anyway, I have personally tested this on the halfway point with my original Callie Rogers video, and it does select the image I want perfectly from my video to use as the YouTube video image thumbnail.

So my best advice on this subject is to make your video more carefully so that you can insert a short film clip in exactly the place you want to guarantee that you get the image you want automatically selected by YouTube when you upload it.

Another option for making money on YouTube that I did not mention would be the “split video” which is again not something I use myself, but I have nothing against it really, I just don’t do it.

The “split video” would be one where you upload a certain type of film (yes, you know the type) and end the YouTube part before anything too extreme gets going.

You then have the other half with the more extreme type content (again, you know the type) available from a website, perhaps as a “paid for” download, or even one tied in to a CPA offer, where someone has to complete an action (such as filling in a survey and such like) to get to the other half of the content.

This technique does apparently work well with certain types of content, from what I have heard online, but I would not try it due to my account not really being the type that would associate with this type of content.

But it’s certainly an idea for you out there if you are happy to do down the “Hot girl” video route to its final destination.

Anyway, I will end this rather long, but hopefully educational blog post now, but I would just like to mention Callie Rogers, the subject of my own “Hot girl” video one more time.
